Embrace Expectation

Within the privacy of our un-conscious minds we carry expectations of ourselves and our own lives. These expectations do not only determine who we are and what we have in our lives, but unfortunately, they also represent what we are willing to settle for. Many of us settle even if we are miserable. We call our lives a trap and often make excuses for not attaining our goals or grabbing on to our hearts desire. While we settle, feel trapped and make excuses we often find ourselves “Hoping” for change. Hoping for someone or something to fall into our laps. When we turn our eyes inward and examine the power of expectation we see it as a powerful emotion strong as any force of nature. In fact, so strong that when activated it can change one’s mindset in an instance. The light bulb is not only on, but it is glowing and lighting the way to your hearts desire. Embrace Expectation.
In the movie “The Secret.” It speaks often about expectation. We heard over and over again, that whatever you expect with certainty; is exactly what you will receive in your life. Ask and you shall receive. Remember though, Believing is also part of the equation. Between Asking and Receiving lies Believing, and a complete expectation of receiving the desired thing. Ask + Believe, Expect without doubt = Receive. Here are some interesting points to remember. Deon Du Pessis the founder of the self improvement points outsome very ineresting bit
One of the most powerful ways to cultivate expectation is to develop a very clear vision for your life.”
When you Expect only the very best, you will get only the very best
“Expectation is the emotional state where an idea becomes so real that you feel it even though you can't hold it yet.
Expectation is like an invisible magnet that will attract into your life that which you expect.
When you expect something you activate and engage those parts of your mind and your nervous system that can empower you to think the unthinkable and do the undoable.
I really like Deon Du Pessis paragraph below. I think he explains it very well. Let me know what you think.
“Most people never even make the time to really define what they want from their lives, but even those who do follow the hope and pray strategy. They kind of know what they want but they don't believe they can have it, so they hope that something will happen and come along their life path to fulfill their desires. Expectation however, is a completely different mindset. It is a mindset of absolute certainty that can be consciously cultivated. Inherent in hoping there is a sense of doubt as you always hold two opposing results in your minds eye. When you expect something you know it is definitely happening. The very focus of your mind dwells upon one definite end result. To turn a “Hope” into an expectation, you simply eliminate doubt and fear by eliminating the opposing outcome. Instead of "seeing" something fail or succeed, you now only see the success. With expectation your actions, your words and your imagination dwells upon and reflects you already having and being exactly what you want. When you expect something you remove the doubt that is inherent in “Hoping.” This rings so true to me my friends. This is the part that helped me turn my life around from the hoping carrousel to expectation.
As I said earlier, many of us expect the worst and hope for the best. From a very young age we are conditioned to think in this manner. Even as children we heard someone say "don't get your hopes up" to avoid disappointment. Unfortunately for many of us, “we've been taught to aim as low as possible. Everything above that will be a bonus. Right? Wrong! Deon describes this clearly, “Remember that what you expect with certainty is what you will get in your life. You have to break away from the autopilot of the masses that just settle for an ordinary life; a life where they are not really happy but they are not unhappy to do something about it. If you want to lift your life and the quality of your life to a higher level than what it is at the moment you need to start by raising your expectations. Raise your expectations of what you are as a person and what you believe you deserve. See, what you believe you deserve is based on your expectations. When you lift your expectations to a higher level you raise your own standards, and raising your standards is the first step to improving your life."

or she begins with some wild expectations." - RALPH CHARELL

Hope Versus Expectation

Hope versus Expectation
In today's language especially, there is defiantly a huge difference between the meaning of the word “Hope,” and “Expectation”. Hope is a confident desire, whereas expectation is a confident belief. “Hope” seems like a watered down, lukewarm word. To me it sounds like an expression of uncertainty. Often a bleak uncertainty that we believe we ought to accept. How often have we heard it said? “Expect the worst and hope for the best!” What a bunch of bologna. Yet, there are many of us that have adopted that school of thought. WHY? It simply snuck in under our sleeping radar. Why not always expect the best? Hope just might have been expectation watered down until there is no conviction to take the appropriate action to bring our desire into physical manifestation. Hoping to me, is like sitting on the fence. The sun sets and there I am still sitting on the fence. The sun rises and I find myself still sitting on the fence. Obviously it is not a picked fence, but the kind with a rather solid and smooth surface. Let us call it a very comfortable to the butt fence. Too comfy to move kind of fence? You know what I mean. Expectation: ( confident belief )carries far more weight, and would simply not allow me to sit on the fence for another moment in time. Never mind how comfortable or numb my butt has become. The confident belief in moving my butt of the fence so I can head toward my desire is now far greater than simply hoping my life will change. I no longer wish for my life to change and play “the if only game,” I truly belief I am changing my life, I belief the answer is already on its way because I genuinely asked, and with confidence I expect my answer to arrive in physical form. To stay stead fast, one must be ready to display patience, stamina and endurance. Remember the answer is already on its way. Just because you can not see it right now does not mean it isn’t in the making and on its way.

Peter Wade, author of the article “Expectation – Key to Believing God” wrote a very in-depth article about the difference between Hope and Expectation from a Christian perspective. To me, his perspective seems to align with the Universal Laws of Attraction, of Deliberate Creation and the Law of Allowing. I found the following examples to be a great explanation about expectation. Give it a read and let me know what you think.

“Imagine a farmer with his plow, and hour after hour he is plowing in the field. He is doing this work in expectation that there will be a harvest. If he was convinced that those seeds would not grow, do you think he would take the time to go out and plow, perhaps just so that the other farmers could see that he knew how to plow? No, he would not waste his time. But if he believes that the seeds will grow, he plows in expectation; he plows with the distinct understanding that this is the necessary and logical thing to do, because there is going to be a harvest.”

Further, Peter Wade states, “ Hope” is rather an unfortunate word to use in this context, because hope is something which has no certainty of fulfillment. There is no guarantee; Well, I just hope so, if it doesn't come about, well, it will not really matter, but I hope it does." That is what the word "hope" means in today's language, and it is far too weak to express what God is saying to us here in the original text.” When we look carefully at the Law of Attraction we also see that hoping is truly like sitting on a fence, it is also far too weak to express what the universal laws promise us every day. However, expectation is strong, stet fast. Born from belief it leads with conviction and action until manifestation.

According to Peter Wade, “There is a lot of difference between expectation and hope.” That statement rings true to me. The following story again, explains the difference between hoping and expecting very clearly.

“ Suppose I am expecting a visitor to arrive by plane tomorrow morning. I am not just hoping that he will come, I am expecting him to come and because of my expectation I have made certain arrangements regarding his visit. To expect something means that there is a strong possibility, even a certainty that the event is going to happen. Just to hope so has no feeling of certainty at all, it is only a pie-in-the-sky dream. Now I want you to keep these two words sharply separated in your mind, for it affects the principle of believing and your enjoyment of all that God has made available.”

Now for those of us Law of Attraction kindred spirits, the same is true. Hope and Expectation must be separated, for they are definitely not the same thing at all. It is true for us as well that “it affects the principle of believing and your enjoyment of all that God (“The Universe”) has made available.”

Remember, ASK, BELIEF, RECEIVE. In between belief and receive we must hold fast to our EXPECTATION that our answer is coming. Springing forth from strong belief our expectations often thrive in the here and now. Heck, the expectation may live on for several days, perhaps even a week. When the answer or the thing has not arrived at what we perceive to be a reasonable amount of time we start to waver and often let hope through the crack in the door. Do not allow hope to play with your mind. Remember, Hope has a close friend named doubt which is an entire story on its own. Remember the story of the farmer earlier, he was not just hoping for a harvest, he was putting his energy, blood sweat and tears into the act of plowing his field. This farmer truly expected the harvest. According to Wade the action that most people take between the moment of believing and the manifestation of the answer, is not to express their expectation, but rather to make preparation for the non-arrival of the answer. “Yet the most vital key in the period between believing and manifesting the answer is the matter of expectation.”

Here is another interesting piece by Peter Wade, which also coincides with the Law of Attraction.

“The fact that expectation and believing are closely associated. is made plain in Hebrews 11:1. "Now belief is the assumption of things expected, the exposing of things not seen." You are expecting something which you cannot as yet see, but as you believe, it will be exposed to view, made manifest, in the material world, for believing equals receiving. This verse is the only place in the Word where belief is defined in such exact terms.” If you would like to read Peter Wade’s entire article you can find it on Peter Wade.com
What do you desire? What are your goals and expectations for your life? Are you looking forward to your future with excitement or are you facing it with apprehension, white knuckles and fear? For most people the future holds too many uncertainties. For some, the fear of the un-known is often paralyzing, so much so, that it often feels better to stay in a stale job or relationship, at least one knows what to expect. Right? Anything is better then facing the fear of what might happen, what could happen Instead let’s simply stay frozen in time. Many of us would rather hang on to our unhealthy, sad or lonely existences instead of going after our dreams and desires. Most of us find some level of difficulty when we attempt to lift ourselves out of difficult circumstances and step up to the level of life we want. We work toward achieving our goals and desire. Ultimately, it is the grand expectation for ourselves that decides what we are and who we are to become. So why not expect the grandest thing?
